DEADLINE EXTENDED! Donations matched now through April 30!
Every dollar you give to the Wisconsin Humane Society is being matched by some incredible friends right now, up to $50,000, including a special gift in memory of Dian Gabriel. All you have to do is make your donation before April 30 and it will have double the impact on animals in need.
We first met Elvis after he made the lifesaving journey to Wisconsin from an overcrowded shelter in Arkansas. He was thin and had a cold, but otherwise seemed to be in good shape. We never could have predicted what we would find just a few days later...
While making the usual rounds providing food, care, cleaning, and enrichment, a team member noticed Elvis was suddenly unsteady on his feet. His littermates hopped around him with excitement while Elvis’ back legs gave way and dragged behind him. He wanted so badly to play with his siblings, but his legs would simply collapse under his 9-lb frame.
With your support, our veterinary team began testing for illness, developing a treatment plan, and providing care for what appeared to be a neurological issue affecting Elvis’ coordination. After four weeks of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, and hyper-vigilant monitoring, the puppy was trotting around without a care in the world, ready to find a home of his own.
Every day, we care for hundreds of animals like Elvis. Over the course of a year, thousands of animals in desperate need of help come through our doors. They require varying degrees of treatment, from simple vaccinations to life-saving surgery and extended periods of therapy. As animals heal and await adoption, we’ll meet whatever other needs they have, too. But as you can imagine, the expenses really add up! We're hoping that you'll consider making a donation to offset our medical costs for animals like Elvis.
