Pet Food For Families In Need

Furry Friends Pet Food Pantry

The Wisconsin Humane Society believes that tight financial times should not break the bonds of love and companionship between people and their companion animals. WHS temporarily provides pet food, treats, and kitty litter for individuals who are struggling to provide food for their animals. This program has helped many people keep their animals in homes where they are loved.

At this time, we are only able to offer full Pet Food Pantry services at our Milwaukee and Ozaukee Campuses. If you need resources in the Racine, Green Bay, or Door County areas, please call the shelter nearest you for resources.

Pet food is available first-come, first-served to anyone who expresses a need. The Furry Friends Pet Food Pantry is entirely donation-driven and there may be times that we will not have enough donations to meet your needs. You are welcome to call ahead to find out if we have any donated food prior to making your trip into the shelter since we will not be able to set aside food for pick-up. The best time to pick up is during regular adoption hours (select a campus here for hours).

Donate to the pantry

By contributing to the Furry Friends food program, your generosity helps keep animals in the homes where they're loved and cherished. We are always in need of dog food (wet or dry), cat food (wet or dry), dog treats, cat treats, and kitty litter.

We accept donations of all kinds, but we can only use unopened bags of food for the Furry Friends Pet Food Pantry. Any opened or ripped bags are passed along for use in our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. All sizes, brands, and types of food are greatly appreciated! Donations can be dropped off at any WHS shelter during our regular operating hours.

Donate from home

We offer steep discounts on pet food, treats, and kitty litter if you donate them to WHS through our online store! Simply select a product to donate, check out as usual, then we'll take the product off our store shelves and stock them in our Pet Food Pantry. That's it!
Note: During checkout, please ignore any "in-store pickup" language; if you purchase any of the products listed in the link above, we know you are donating to the shelter and won't be picking the item up. Once you've paid, you're all set and we'll take care of the rest!

On behalf of the many people and animals served by this vital program, thank you so very much for your contribution!

Client feedback

"Hello, I want the people who work here, volunteer here, and donate here to know, if possible, just how much our family appreciates the pet pantry. At one time, we did not have financial issues or struggles. We loved our pets and with having children, acquired a few more cats and another dog. Providing for them had not been a problem.

Right now, we are struggling. We are behind on our house payment and are struggling to keep our house and a roof over the kids' heads. As it is, we are relying heavily on the food pantry. An easy solution would be to rehome these pets and eliminate the food expense. We love them and I believe they are attached to us. The kids would be devastated to lose them. Life is hard for them as it is. The assistance from the pet pantry has meant so very much to us.

If you could, let everyone know and especially the kind donors, how much it means to us and our pets. I know that things will improve, but until then, you've added some stability. You have lifted a burden and eased some of our worry. When we are able, we will work on giving back. It has really meant so very much to us. I really don't know what we would do without your assistance. May each of you be blessed for being so kind. You all have made a huge difference in our lives.

- Thank you, our family and very loved pets
