Camp Scholarship Program

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 20

The Wisconsin Humane Society Summer Camp Scholarship Program provides young people in need of financial assistance the opportunity to attend summer camp. Full scholarships are available for summer camps at the Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Racine Campuses for young people completing grades 1-9.

Teachers or mentors can nominate a young person they think will benefit from a summer camp experience or families can apply directly. We encourage young people of all diverse backgrounds to apply. Nomination and application forms can be submitted online or printed and returned by mail or email.  Families must commit to ensuring their camper attends camp every day and be able to provide transportation to and from camp.

The teacher/mentor nomination forms deadline is April 1, and the deadline for applications from families is April 20.

Scholarship FAQ

What is required of participants and families?

Families who accept a scholarship must commit to providing transportation for their camper to and from camp each day and to have their camper attend every day of camp. Families also need to pack a lunch for their camper each day.

How much will the scholarship cover?

Scholarships will cover 100% of the camp tuition. Scholarships do not cover transportation costs or lunches.

When are nomination and application forms due?

Teacher and mentor nomination forms are due April 1, and applications from families are due April 20. Applications postmarked by April 20 will be accepted. Applications may be submitted through the online form above, email, or mail.

What is the age range for camps?

Camps are designed for young people completing grades 1-9 in the 2023-2024 school year. Age ranges vary based on the camp and its activities. To see specific camp sessions offered for each age range, visit our camps page.

When are camps?

Camps are offered in June, July, and August at the Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Racine Campuses. Visit our camps page for specific sessions and dates for each campus.

How long is each camp session?

Each camp session is five days long (Monday through Friday). Camp days run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

How many weeks of camp can I apply for?

To reach as many families as possible, we only award one camp session per child. When completing the application, please rank camp sessions in order of interest. Awards are based on availability and, while we do our best to honor requests, you may not receive your first choice.

Can I nominate or apply for more than one child?

Yes! Please submit one completed form per child.

How and when will I be notified about my scholarship?

Applicants will be notified by Wednesday, May 15 via email. Please include a valid and clearly printed email address that you check frequently on the application so that you receive scholarship information.

Where do I send my completed form?

You can submit your application online. If you choose to fill out a hard copy, you can email the completed form to mkatzuba@wihumane.org or mail it to:

My application has been accepted. Now what?

Included in your acceptance notification email, you will receive a link to finalize your camper’s participation in camp. Your child’s summer camp spot will be held for two weeks from the date you receive a scholarship acceptance email. You must confirm your camper’s attendance by responding to your acceptance email within two weeks.  If you do not, your camper’s scholarship will be forfeited and will be opened to another student on our waitlist.

Who can I reach out to if I have additional questions?

Please call 414-604-6153 or email Megan at mkatzuba@wihumane.org if you have additional questions or concerns.
