Baja - Volunteer Pick & Benchwarmer!
This dog is one of the many wonderful animals available for adoption at WHS. Despite their great looks and lovable personality, they have not found a new home yet and have become a benchwarmer. To get them back in the game and into a home, we have reduced their adoption fee. We know they will make a great addition to someone’s family – come meet them today!
Baja spent some time with one of our foster parents and here's what she had to say:
Baja is such a sweet cuddly boy and definitely believes himself to be a furniture dog. He had claimed the couch and bed within seconds of entering our home. He is so affectionate and wants to be near you at all times. Such a sweetheart. In our home he knows sit and paw, takes treats very gently, and is mostly potty trained (there were a few accidents at our house but I think they were just jitters).
Baja loves to be on your lap or in your space leaning on you. He also is a very quiet dog! He barked one time the entire time he was here and it was out of surprise rather than aggression. While with us he encountered many other dogs at a distance - either them walking past the house or passing them on the street during walks. He was never aggressive or scared - he was alert to their presence but didn't let that distract him from the walk and also did not have any negative behavior.
Baja is a fast learner who has great potential to fit any needs - within one day he knew our commands and the household expectations without any additional prompting (i.e no dogs in the dining area while eating, we told him no just twice and redirected him. By day 2, he laid down outside of the dining area and waited until meal was over before approaching). He is a very smart boy.
Baja is a STRONG chewer and he really enjoys it! This is great when you have tough toys, but is harder with soft toys or treats. This boy loves chewing and would do well in a home that embraces that.
Keep in mind...Baja is still just a puppy at heart and he gets the zoomies! While not an unnecessary amount of action (he can cuddle and relax for hours) when he gets hyper he needs more room to zoom given how big he is!
