Volunteering at WHS

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Wisconsin Humane Society! Every day, volunteers help improve the lives of animals at our Milwaukee and Ozaukee campuses. Each volunteer plays a vital role in the success of our shelters which care for nearly 20,000 animals each year.

To view opportunities near you, please choose the WHS campus you are most interested in volunteering at:

Your application will be reviewed and we will contact you with information about our upcoming orientations.

Due to the amount of training required for most volunteer positions, we require a personal commitment of at least 6 months of service for any position that involves working directly with the animals. If you are unable to make the 6-month commitment, we encourage you to consider volunteering in our more flexible areas, including special events and fundraising.

Volunteers ages 13-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has also attended the orientation and training. For some positions, young people may volunteer with an adult. Please read each volunteer opportunity for the minimum age requirements.
