"When we first picked Tiana up from the shelter, she was extremely anxious but she has made such amazing strides in just a few days. Tiana is a sweet and quiet girl - I literally have never heard a peep out of her. When asked, she will sit and add a "paw" too for good measure, ensuring a treat for her efforts. She is very responsive to command when feeling safe.
The world can be scary to her (especially outdoors) and is cautious when meeting new people and in new situations. She feels most secure inside and when she has heightened anxiety, prefers the safety of her kennel with a blanket over it to give it a den-like feel. Although she is seven she gives the impression of a younger dog. She jumps like a gazelle and has the graceful stride of a dog that loves to run. We sit outside often and allow her to come in and out as she pleases, and she is becoming more and more comfortable with joining us. I think in time she could find the world less intimidating with a stable and supportive family. I believe she would appreciate an understanding household, with or without another dog and someone willing to take things slow to make her feel safe and bring out her true nature.
