Marta - Available from Foster
Marta - Available from Foster
My name is Marta. Actually, you can call me Queen Marta, because I'm a rare and beautiful dilute calico with long, soft fur and I look like I belong on a throne. At first, you might label me picky or standoffish, but those are just my royal charms. I like to check out people and places very slowly to make sure everything is up to my standards, so you'll probably want to confine me to a single room at first or whenever you're not at home (especially if you have other pets, which makes me really nervous and might not be the best fit for my lifestyle-please ask).
I like routines and I am most relaxed in a relatively quiet space, although my foster family was doing construction for the last month and I adjusted to banging noises ever so nicely (I still haven't learned to like the vacuum, though). I require a feeling of safety to be my best self, and once I have the things I need I promise I will warm up to you and be the princess you've been looking for. Though I don't vocalize a lot, my meow is simply sweet and genuine. And a true lady never reveals her age, so I've kept the staff guessing-their best guess is 4 years old, but I'm not telling!
I haven't always been treated well by society, so I want to thank you in advance for your love. I was once left to fend for myself as outdoor cat, which wasn't easy. I have at least one physical issue that remains from those days and you can ask my foster family about that. Please read all of the details of my medical history, because as classy as I am, I can't read the files myself! The WHS staff has been doing an excellent job with my care, and I'm done with all of my medicines. My foster family suspects I may have had a litter of kittens awhile back, but I'm now fixed and chipped so there won't be any more heirs.
Now that I have adjusted to common life indoors, expect me to rub against your legs, give you kisses, let you pick me up, and even play with string and laser-light toys once I've earned your trust (which may take weeks). In my foster home, I have never used my claws on people or furniture, but I did love the scratchy post and tower they let me play on. I'm a champion when it comes to burying my unmentionables, and I never once missed the litterbox (I'm a lady, remember?). Because of some of my leg and balance limitations, I would like the person who adopts me to be observant and patient so that my fur stays brushed and backside stays clean.
I will do very well in a house or apartment with someone who goes out for work or works quietly from home so that I can enjoy a good mix of people time and alone time, which I seem to prefer a balance of. Once I've had enough human contact for the moment, I am an excellent communicator and will give you an unmistakable paw tap or even a soft meow or hiss. Sometimes a girl like me just wants to be alone! I'm used to having a windowsill to sit in, as birdwatching is one of my very favorite activities. I can be easily coaxed into doing or going wherever you need with some very specific treats which my fosters will tell you all about. Oh, and I'm currently on a diet, which...I suppose you should probably keep up...but only so that I can honor my faithful subjects who say, "Long live the queen!"
If you're ready for a royal challenge with a royal reward, I'm your girl. Vote me in to your forever family and I promise to rule your heart. For more information about adopting me, contact email@example.com with some information about yourself and any questions you have about me.
