Welcome Bird Collision Monitors!

Thank you for being a Bird Monitor for the WIngs program at the Wisconsin Humane Society!

If you have previously participated as a Bird Collision Monitor, please click here to sign up for the Fall 2011 migration and pick which areas you would like to patrol.

Migration Update!

The future is less grim for birds that migrate through Milwaukee, thanks to the dedication of the WIngs Collision Monitors!

Spring, 2010 In May, 2010, WHS WIngs Bird Collision Monitors patrolling in Downtown Milwaukee rescued or recovered birds from the following species: Hermit Thrush, Gray Catbird, Lincoln's Sparrow, Ovenbird, Mourning Dove, Chipping Sparrow, Black and white warbler, American Robin, Red-eyed Vireo, Wilson's Warbler, and Common Yellowthroat.

On behalf of the birds, many thanks to the Spring, 2010 Bird Collision Monitors!

Please use the following WIngs forms to process the birds found on your patrols.

  • Use the Data Collection Form to print the forms that need to accompany the birds found on your patrol.
  • The Bird Monitor Report is used to let Wisconsin Humane Society staff know which birds you found on your patrol. This must be filled out and submitted after every patrol.

Important Resource Documents
The General Rescue Protocol is a great reminder on how to capture and handle living birds.
In the unfortunate event that the birds you find have died, please review the Protocol for Handling Dead Birds to ensure proper handling.
