My two favorite things about NewZea: She loves to sleep in our bed at night, but not over our face! And despite her age and body type (9 years old and a little plump) she'll still chase the laser pointer around as if she were a kitten.
Contact Info: firstname.lastname@example.org
Current Location: St. Francis, WI
Is NewZea spayed or neutered? yes
Is NewZea up to date on vaccinations? yes
Why the animal is being rehomed: With a two year old (human) and another on the way, we just aren't able to give the proper love and attention to our cat NewZea. She needs more exercise than we can give her, and ever since we had our first child, she's been peeing out of the cat box occasionally. We know that this type of behavior is entirely our fault, but so far we've been unable to provide the environment she needs to be comfortable.

How long have you had NewZea? 7 years.
Where did you get NewZea? Humane Society in Ann Arbor, MI.
Has NewZea ever bitten someone? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: Only when you're playing with her and don't pay attention to her cues to stop playing.
What, if any, medical or behavioral concerns does NewZea have? She had a bladder infection 6 years ago and has since been on prescription cat food, which costs $30 for a bag that lasts about 2 months.
Has NewZea lived with other animals? No
Has NewZea actively fought with other animals in the home? No
Does/did NewZea hide from other animals in the home? No
How does NewZea interact with animals outside of the home? She'll "chatter" at birds, but ignores everything else.
Are you requiring that NewZea not go into a family with certain types of pets? No
Has NewZea lived with any children under 18? Yes
NewZea has lived with children of these ages: 2
Does/did NewZea hide or avoid children in the home? Yes
If yes to the above, please explain the circumstances: NewZea is generally stand-offish, preferring to be in the same room as people but often out of arms reach. Our 2 year old doesn't understand this and she'll keep away from him and run away when he chases her (which isn't often).
Does/did NewZea display any forms of aggression toward children in the home? No
Are you requiring that NewZea not go into a family with children under a certain age? No
If yes to the above, please list your restrictions: I would not recommend NewZea as a "family pet" for the kids. She'll do better in a house without children.
Does NewZea have any fears? Plastic bags. Vacuums, and brooms by association. Thunder.
NewZea's overall activity level: Sedentary/low energy
What should the next family should know about NewZea: NewZea is a great, low-maintenance cat that will show adult owners the love and affection they deserve. Though low-maintenance, she needs more love and attention than we can provide at this time in our lives, and we want to make sure she has a family who can truly appreciate her. She prefers napping and sitting on laps to playing with toys, but she'll stop everything she's doing (including eating!) to chase the laser pointer. Though she has had issues with peeing on blankets and clothes lying on the ground, she's never scratched or chewed on furniture, or scratched people. She loves getting her hair brushed and will eagerly jump on your lap when you pull out the brush. She's been a 100% indoor cat her entire life.
