There’s an App for Cats (and Dogs, too)
Wisconsin Humane Society Launches iPhone Application
MILWAUKEE – Want to “oooh” at a puppy and “aaaah” at a kitten? Get a warm fuzzy after a tough meeting? The Wisconsin Humane Society has an app for that.
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) has launched its very own iPhone App, becoming one of the only animal shelters in the country with its own app. And it’s free.
“We’re excited to launch this app, which will help our adopters find the right companion animal,” said Anne Reed, executive director of WHS. “The app will provide instant and up-to-date information about animals who are looking for a new home, and will help potential adopters plan their visit ahead of time.”
With the Wisconsin Humane Society’s free iPhone App, you can browse adoptable companion animals at the shelter, and bookmark and filter by breed, sex, or location. You can save a list of your favorite animals to make the adoption process easier, too. Any animal who catches your eye can quickly be shared via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.
The app is also a way to sponsor your favorite animals currently being cared for at the Wisconsin Humane Society, including wild animals currently in rehabilitation at its Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
The Wisconsin Humane Society’s iPhone app was developed by Milwaukee company Roll Mobile. Roll Mobile President, Sara Santiago, says about the app:
This app will be helpful to anyone from the casual “which animals are available?” browser all the way to those looking for a new companion and wanting to plan their visit to the Wisconsin Humane Society. So imagine walking into Wisconsin Humane Society and being able to show someone your phone and saying, “I’d like to see this animal!” Or for people who want to support the Wisconsin Humane Society but can’t adopt currently, they’ll be able to donate, as well.
