Wisconsin Humane Society Invites Animal Lovers Around the World to Go Online to Play with Adoptable Shelter Animals

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Humane Society is excited to announce that KONG Company has installed the iPet Companion live and interactive cat playroom in its Milwaukee shelter, enabling users around the world to play with cats and kittens who are available for adoption over the web.

The KONG-sponsored iPet Companion allows any online user to play with animals remotely by controlling unique robotic toys with a few clicks of a mouse. A camera captures all the fun and lets users watch the video live as the cats chase, jump, pounce and grab at the toys.

“We are really excited about the potential of this innovative feature to highlight our wonderful felines available for adoption,” said Angela Speed, director of community relations and development at the Wisconsin Humane Society. “The timing couldn’t be better, as we always see a high influx of cats, and especially kittens, during the summer months. Plus, what better way to get a little kitten therapy in the middle of your workday?”

KONG is installing iPet Companion in animal shelters across the US for six weeks at a time, including the Wisconsin Humane Society. KONG elected to sponsor iPet Companion installations because of their demonstrated value in helping animal shelters. Those shelters that have already installed the systems report higher cat adoption rates, increased donations, increased website traffic and positive media coverage in their communities – not to mention the amazing benefits of activity and entertainment for the cats awaiting adoption.

Live interaction with cats can be viewed on the Wisconsin Humane Society’s website at http://www.ipetcompanion.net/client/wisconsin-humane-society.
