MEDIA ADVISORY/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

Red-tailed Hawk to Soar to Great Heights

MILWAUKEE – Celebrate with the Wisconsin Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center staff as they release a Red-tailed Hawk into the skies. Jamaica was admitted to the WHS Wildlife Hospital on August 11. The cause of her injury is uncertain – perhaps she was hit by a car – but a bone in her chest had been beadly fractured and she could not fly.

The wildlife team worked to treat Jamaica with an electrolyte, glucose and water solution to combat dehydration and stabilize her fracture. Nearly six weeks of top-notch care and daily monitoring has Jamaica fully recovered and ready to take flight!
