Eagle Scout Donates Food to WHS
MILWAUKEE – Seventeen-year-old Devin Rice has a new furry fan club. This ambitious junior at South Milwaukee High School designed an Eagle Scout project to help homeless animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee.
Devin decorated and distributed boxes to collect food, pet supplies and toys for domestic and wild animals for WHS; he also led rallies to collect supplies and donations and provide pamphlets on animal care. He will be delivering the supplies on Thursday after school to very grateful WHS staff.
“With food costs and gas prices climbing higher, we are seeing more participants in our Furry Friends Food program, so this couldn’t have come at a better time,” says Dezarae Hartwig Jones, Education Manager at WHS.
The Wisconsin Humane Society provides Furry Friend Food for individuals who are struggling to provide food for their animals and who demonstrate a financial need. This program has helps many people keep their beloved animals and provide them with proper nutrition. Devin’s donation will go a long way to help the shelter animals and families in the community who are in need of a little extra help.
