Friday, April 4: Beginning Bird watching Seminar
Join experienced birder and WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Manager Scott Diehl for a ninety-minute seminar for the novice birder. This fun and informative seminar will cover basic birding information and provide you with some great places to bird in Milwaukee. Topics include: what to look for when purchasing binoculars; how to spot birds in the wild; beginner bird i.d.; where to look for birds. 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A $10.00 fee per person benefits the animals at the WHS Wildlife Center.


Friday, April 11: Attracting Birds to Your Yard Seminar
Join experienced birder and Wildlife Rehabilitation Manager Scott Diehl for a ninety-minute seminar on attracting birds to your yard. This fun and informative seminar will include information on creating a habitat in your yard and the kinds of birds you can expect to see. Topics include: Setting up and maintenance of bird feeders and baths; learning which feeds and feed attract birds; plants, shrubs and trees that will improve your habitat; attracting year-round visitors to your yard; when to expect migratory birds to arrive and how to attract them; attracting and preventing other wildlife from visiting. 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A $10.00 fee per person benefits the animals at the WHS Wildlife Center.


Friday, April 18: Intermediate Birding Seminar
Join experienced birder and WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Manager Scott Diehl for a ninety-minute seminar on intermediate birding. This fun and informative seminar will include information on more advanced birding techniques than our beginner’s class. Topics include: How to learn bird songs and calls; identifying similar species; choosing a spotting scope and tripod; resources in Milwaukee and Wisconsin for avid birders. 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A $10.00 fee per person benefits the animals at the WHS Wildlife Center.

 

These events are being held in conjunction with the 2008 Avian Odyssey, benefiting the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Every year, the center cares for more than 5,000 injured, sick or orphaned wild animals including many wild birds. Join a team, create a team, register as an individual or sponsor a participant for this year’s Avian Odyssey!
