MILWAUKEE – Avian Odyssey is a great fundraising opportunity for those interested in supporting the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Avian Odyssey has just announced the top fundraising prize, too - a stay at an eco-resort in Costa Rica!
WHS’ 3rd Annual Avian Odyssey invites novice and expert birders to choose one day in May and count the number of bird species they see in a 24-hour period. Participants collect donations from family, friends and coworkers in return for their marathon birding effort. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
“We’re hoping to encourage people to get outdoors and have fun counting all of the birds they see,” said Scott Diehl, Wildlife Manager with the WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. “At the same time, they’ll be supporting the work we do here at WHS, helping wild animals.”
The Wisconsin Humane Society's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center annually receives and cares for more than 5,000 injured, sick and orphaned wild animals of over 145 different species. The Center’s goal is to rehabilitate these creatures and return them again to the wild.
