Shot Opossum to be Returned to Wild

MILWAUKEE – Celebrate with the Wisconsin Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center staff as they release an Opossum into the wild.  Christina was admitted to the WHS Wildlife Hospital in late September after being trapped and shot in the head multiple times.  A local citizen who witnessed this abuse went to the trash can and discovered that Christina was still alive!  He rescued her and contacted the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for help.

The wildlife team treated the injured opossum and performed surgery to remove fragments from the pellet gun. Her wounds were dressed and she was given medication for the pain. After several weeks of top-notch care, Christina is ready to return to the wild!
