Crime-Fighting Dog Saves Her Guardian and
New Home from Burglary
MILWAUKEE – A few weeks ago, Henrietta Robinson adopted Ciara, a 4-year-old dog, from the Wisconsin Humane Society. The moment she saw the beautiful Akita mix, Henrietta fell in love with Ciara. She had a luxurious coat, lovely grin and interacted with old-fashioned manners. Unbeknownst to Henrietta, her timing was fortuitous. Ciara would soon prevent Henrietta from being seriously hurt in a burglary attempt.
Henrietta and Richard Robinson own a duplex on the north side of Milwaukee and often work opposite schedules. Adopting Ciara provided Henrietta with a terrific companion and someone to share her evenings with.
While her husband was at work one night, Henrietta was spooked by a strange noise coming from downstairs. Ciara heard it, too, and both Henrietta and the dog sprang towards the door. Henrietta wanted to make sure that it was locked, but Ciara kept getting in her way, blocking her from the door. The burglar made it to the door before Henrietta could, but as the door opened, Ciara protectively jumped in front of Henrietta. When the burglar saw the dog, he was so scared that he fell down the stairs and ran out the door!
Henrietta and her husband love Ciara and feel that she was made for them! When Henrietta called her adoption counselor at the Wisconsin Humane Society with her story, news spread quickly about Ciara’s heroic efforts. Ciara has even been nominated for a special WHS award which recognizes her brave actions.
