CALENDAR OF EVENTS LISTING

MILWAUKEE – Still looking for a New Year’s resolution? How about improving not only your life, but your animal’s, as well? Take a class at the Wisconsin Humane Society and help our four-legged friends! All fees go right back to help thousands of homeless, abandoned and sick animals at WHS.

TAILS AND TALES STORYTIME
Join us for Tails and Tales on Thursday, January 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Animal-related books with a humane theme will be read at each session and will be followed by activities and an opportunity to meet an animal from the Wisconsin Humane Society. Story time is for children ages two to four years old. There is no fee for this event, but please bring an item from the Wisconsin Humane Society's wish list to help the animals.

POOCH PLAYTIME
Is your dog longing to get out for more playtime and socialization? Join us for Pooch Playtime here at the Wisconsin Humane Society on Sunday, January 17 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Your dog can run and play in our indoor, climate-controlled training center. We provide a fun and relaxing environment for playtime that is monitored by two WHS volunteers. Playtime is only $7.00 per dog for each 45 minute play session, limited to 8 dogs. Pre-registration is required at www.wihumane.org.

PET LOSS SUPPORT
Did you lose a companion animal and need support? The Wisconsin Humane Society will be hosting a Pet Loss Support Seminar on Thursday, January 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The seminar will include a discussion of the grieving process, suggestions for coping with loss and attention to special situations such as euthanasia decisions. Open to the public, this seminar will be held at 4500 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee. There is a $10.00 fee for this seminar which includes a $5.00 gift certificate for Animal Antics, the retail store at the Wisconsin Humane Society. CPR AND FIRST AID FOR CATS AND DOGS
The Wisconsin Humane Society will host First Aid and CPR on Thursday, January 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is limited and advanced registration is required. There is a $60.00 fee for this class, which includes an American Red Cross Pet First Aid book and DVD and a certificate documenting that the participant is certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. This class will be presented by Dr. Marla Lichtenberger, DVM, DACVECC (Board-certified emergency and critical care specialist for animals). Instruction will cover CPR, temporary treatment of bleeding, fractures, choking, heat stroke, seizures and discussion about common poisonings and other first aid care.

COME, FIDO!
Does your dog run everywhere but to you when you call him to “come”? Join us for Come, Fido! on Tuesday, February 9 from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. This class will introduce guardians to methods for successfully and reliably getting their dog to come when called. We will focus on positive techniques using reward-based training. There is a $20.00 fee and a limit of eight dogs for this workshop. Register at www.wihumane.org.
